• Tips + Tricks •

Whether you are a full head colour, regrowth tint, half a head of foils or a balayage, we all go through stages of not loving our colour in-between appointments.

What do we do to change that? To maintain a fresh look throughout.

Tip 1.

The correct shampoo & conditioner - The condition of your hair is number one in keeping your colour looking good! If your hair is dry, damaged or you're using a cheap shampoo, this will most likely be the culprit for colour fade-age & change of tone in your hair. If your hair is damaged or dry this leaves your hair porous & open to absorb the world natural pollution - This can result in yellow blondes, frizzy dry ends that don’t look shiny and rich. If you are using cheap shampoo from the supermarket, this is most likely filled with intense cleansing properties that don’t take professional colour into consideration. Why spend over $200 on your colour for the supermarket to strip it out? Treat yourself to a good home care routine, the OWAY range has something for everybody’s needs & you can refill your bottle!

Tip 2.

Colour tinted shampoos & conditioners - These are a life saver! Mostly for blondes struggling to keep a bright cool blonde & fresh fashion colours like your pastel tones & bright reds & coppers. You can get many colours though, to even help keep browns rich and shiny. If you’re blonde who’s colour goes yellow/brassy quickly a purple shampoo or conditioner can help keep these tones at bay! - bearing in mind the shampoo versions are normally stronger than the conditioners so do not over use - a shampoo of this a week can keep your blonde bright & give the illusion of a few fresh highlights. Or pop on an OWAY Hmelt mask, to give a pinky, peachy, rose hue while nourishing your hair with plant based goodness!

Tip 3.

In-between toner, treatment & trim appointments - Have you ever gone for a haircut and when you’re done your colour looks so much better? It really is amazing what a fresh haircut can do, or an in salon treatment. Giving your hair moisture, shine & structured shape can actually maintain your colour! We sound crazy to those every 3-week appointment clients to cover greys, but MOST of the time this is a go-getter! And an in-between toner - for all those balayage, foil clients or are you getting fade-age on your ends? A toner is a semi-colour to change the tone of your hair & can make dull blonde seem brighter... It can be used at any point, quick & an easy excuse to pamper yourself in the salon for an hour.

Tip 4.

Maintaining your roots but helping your bank account - You don’t have to have a full balayage or a full regrowth tint every time if you can’t afford it. There are other options that will help get you through still looking great.

•If you can’t hack the maintenance of a full regrowth tint every time, why not try a partial application? It’s half the price & also half of your head.. Applying around your hairline and throughout your parting, this could be a great option to do every other time!

• Is your balayage or foils looking pretty good from last time but you’re going somewhere or just feeling dark around your face & parting? Opt for a half head scattered or just some express foils, this will help keep your re-growth maintenance low & give you the feeling of a fresh new colour for longer!
